Heuga Carpet Tiles at East Midlands Airport
]In December 2018 we completed our first flooring project East Midlands Airport.
Our first project was to supply and fit the following commercial flooring:
- 305m2 of Heuga carpet tiles throughout new offices
- 40m2 of Polysafe standard 2.5mm safety flooring to the new toilets
- 80m2 of Polysafe standard 2.5mm safety flooring to the new kitchenette
Working with the main contractor Oliveti Construction, we were very excited about this project and are hoping that we will continue to do more work at East Midlands Airport.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
The project in a little more detail:
Uplift of existing flooring
The old floor covering was carpet tiles, we were responsible for taking up parts of the old flooring.
Uplifting carpet tiles can be very difficult (all depends on whether the previous installer used the correct adhesives) on this occasion the previous installers had used the incorrect adhesives and the old carpet tiles were impossible to uplift manually, therefore on this occasion we had to hire a machine to help us along.
Due to the noise of the machine we worked out of hours to uplift the old carpet tiles so that we were not disruptive to any office staff in other parts of the building.
The picture below shows our Hilti breaker that we use when uplifting difficult carpet tiles.
Installation of Heuga carpet tiles
The installation of the Heuga carpet tiles was very straight forward and they looked great, when the floor covering is installed I always feel that it takes the job to the next level and makes the build / refurbishment look complete.
We installed the 305m2 of Heuga carpet tiles over the course of 2 days with 3 fitters.
